Legendary singer Sabita Chowdhury passes away
She was suffering from cancer, and died at her residence today.

Wife of music legend Salil Chowdhury, she died at around two am, her daughter Antara said.
Chowdhury was 72 and is survived by four children.
She was undergoing treatment for cancer since January this year and brought to the city from a Mumbai hospital in May as wished by her. "We had made all arrangements at home," the daughter said.

Expressing her grief, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted "saddened at the passing away of popular singer Sabita Chowdhury. My condolences to her family, friends and fans."
Percussionist Pt Tanmoy Bose said "it is a personal loss. So many memories flooding at this moment! She was a person full of life ".
Music composer Debojyoti Misra said "she was like my mother."
Chowdhury, who had been actively involved with the Salil Chowdhury Foundation to preserve his songs, had rendered many popular songs in Bengali and Hindi.
