Legendary composer Khayyam donates his entire wealth for aspiring artists

One of Hindi cinema's legendary music composers Mohammad Zahur Khayyam Hashmi, popularly known as Khayyam, who celebrated his 89th birthday yesterday, has decided to donate his entire wealth of Rs 10 crore to support budding artists.

The legendary composer, who is known for giving us many timeless classics in his four-decade long career, announced the formation of his charitable trust, Khayyam Jagjeet Kaur KPG Charitable Trust through which he will donate his entire savings that amounts to Rs 10 crore to support artists and technicians of the film industry.

Considering the struggle and hardships Khayyam had to face during his initial years in the industry, the veteran can very well relate to the tribulations and difficulties aspiring artists have to go through every day to make it big in the competitive world of music. And hence, to make life easier for young and talented artists, Khayyam thought of taking this noble step so that youngsters today don't have to face the hardships he went through when he had started out in the industry.
