Legal battle between deceased artist Hema & her ex-husband Chintan Upadhyay slated for January
As the investigation into artist Hema Upadhyay's murder continues, the legal battle between the deceased and her ex-husband Chintan Upadhyay is now in the spotlight. On December 18, the matter of Hema's maintenance plea against Chintan was expected to be heard, the first after her demise. But now the Bombay High Court has slated it for mid-January on account of the winter break. The court reopens on January 4.

Chintan's lawyer Mrunalini Deshmukh says, "We informed the court about the incident on her part, and the court asked if there is any monetary element involved in the matter and we said there is a matter of maintainence of Rs 40,000 per month."

Hema, who was found dead with her lawyer this month, had challenged a family court order that dissolved her marriage with Chintan. The decree was granted in 2014 after Chintan filed for divorce in 2010. Hema had filed for the permanent alimony against the order. Earlier, the court had directed Chintan to pay her Rs 16.5 lakh for the expenses she had said she incurred on the couple's Juhu home, worth Rs 3.5 crore.
