Lee Cronin's The Mummy is making its way to streaming after its theatrical release earlier this year. The supernatural horror film takes the familiar mummy mythology in a darker direction, bringing together a missing child, a troubled family and an ancient force that turns an emotional reunion into something terrifying.

Directed by Lee Cronin, known for Evil Dead Rise, the film follows journalist Charlie Cannon and his family after their young daughter disappears in Egypt. Years later, her unexpected return brings back hope for the family, but it soon becomes clear that something is seriously wrong.

The Mummy OTT release date and platform

Lee Cronin's The Mummy will start streaming in India on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The film will be available on JioHotstar.

The movie will stream in English, with dubbed versions available in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. It has a runtime of approximately 2 hours and 14 minutes.

JioHotstar announced the release on X/Twitter with the message, “Don’t watch this one with the lights off.”

What is The Mummy about?

The film follows journalist Charlie Cannon, whose young daughter Katie disappears while the family is in Egypt. The disappearance leaves Charlie and his family searching for answers, but Katie remains missing for eight years.

Then, unexpectedly, Katie is found alive inside a sealed coffin.

Her return should have been a happy moment for the family, but it quickly takes a disturbing turn. Katie starts behaving strangely and becomes increasingly violent, while the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain unexplained.

Detective Dalia Zaki begins investigating the case as the family discovers that Katie's return is connected to an ancient supernatural force. Charlie and his loved ones are then forced to deal with something far more dangerous than the disappearance they thought they had finally put behind them.

Jack Reynor plays journalist Charlie Cannon, with Laia Costa appearing as his wife Larissa Cannon. Natalie Grace plays their daughter Katie.

The cast also includes May Calamawy as Detective Dalia Zaki, Verónica Falcón as Carmen Santiago, Shylo Molina as Sebastián Cannon, Hayat Kamille as The Magician and May Elghety as Layla Khalil.

Lee Cronin has written and directed the film. He previously worked on The Hole in the Ground and Evil Dead Rise. James Wan, Jason Blum and John Keville have produced the movie.

The Mummy box office and other options

The Mummy was released in Indian theatres on April 17, 2026. It went on to earn around $90.55 million worldwide, while its India gross stood at approximately ₹30.03 crore, including ₹25.32 crore net.

Before its JioHotstar streaming debut, the film was also available through digital rental and purchase options. On Apple TV, it could be rented for ₹149 or bought for ₹699, while Amazon Prime Video offered it for rent at ₹149.
