Law Minister Kiren Rijiju's Sajolang performance impresses PM Modi

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju spent a hearty day on Wednesday, dancing with the residents of Kazalang village in Arunachal Pradesh.

The 49-year-old minister shared a one-minute-14-second-long video on Twitter where he was seen performing the Miji dance with the people of the Sajolang tribe.

Calling original folk songs and dances as the "essence of every community in Arunachal Pradesh", the former Sports Minister was seen thumping his feet and waving his arms in the air - dressed in a white shirt, burgundy Nehru jacket and beige trousers.


"This is traditional merrymaking of Sajolang people whenever guests visit their village," he wrote.

Rijiju was in Arunachal to monitor the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Projects.

A day later, the post caught Prime Minister Narendra Modi's attention. He quoted Rijiju's tweet and admired his talent for dancing.

The 71-year-old Prime Minister called Rijiju a "decent dancer", and praised the vibrant and glorious culture of Arunachal Pradesh.


Within minutes, an excited Rijiju retweeted PM Modi's post.

From the time it was uploaded, the post has been retweeted 2,508 and liked 19.4K times.

Last week, Rijiju shared a video of himself singing Kishore Kumar's famous number 'Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan' from 1981 film 'Yaarana', starring Amitabh Bachchan and Neetu Singh.

In his caption, he wrote "Just to please the young and smart Arunachal Civil Service Officers after completing their first ever Customised Training Programme at the Premier Academy for IAS, Elite Officers - 'Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration'."


Rijiju is known to keeps his 1.1 million followers on the microblogging site busy with videos of cycling, singing, working out, among other things.
