Law firm Amarchand Mangaldas turns 100, politicians, India Inc celebrate with Cyril Shroff

After Mumbai, it was the capital’s turn to play host to the centenary celebrations of law firm Amarchand Mangaldas hosted by Cyril Shroff and wife, Vandana. Around 400 guests gathered at a luxury hotel last Wednesday. The guest list in Delhi was quite different from the Mumbai one (February 8), given that the sets that move around in both cities are so different. Political circles were well represented in Delhi, where -as the business establishment dominated the Mumbai event.

Those present at the Delhi do included politicians like Ravi Shankar Prasad, Piyush Goyal, Jayant Sinha and Smriti Irani. Legal luminaries like former chief justice of India T S Thakur, attorney general Mukul Rohatgi and senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi were also present. Corporate faces spotted in the milieu included Mohit Burman (Dabur), Abhishek Lodha (Lodha Group), Pramit Jhaveri (Citibank) and Rajeev Singh (DLF).

Gautam Adani and Karan Adani (son-in-law of the Shroffs) were also a part of the evening that regaled the guests with an hour -and- a-half long Sufi music performance by Singhvi’s wife, Anita. Shroff, who made a short speech before the performance, recapped the firm’s 100-year-long history as well as touched upon the future orientation being envisaged. The focus would be on “character, competence and commitment”, he said. Glasses were raised for the next 100.
