Ikka (Netflix)

Sunny Deol makes his OTT debut with Ikka, a Hindi courtroom thriller that also reunites him with Akshaye Khanna nearly three decades after Border. The film stars Sunny Deol, Akshaye Khanna, Tillotama Shome, Dia Mirza, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Shishir Sharma and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor.
Sunny plays Arjun Mehra, a respected lawyer known for putting justice above courtroom victories. His principles are put to the ultimate test when he is asked to defend a man, played by Akshaye Khanna, whom he had once prosecuted in a high-profile attempted murder case. As the trial unfolds, the legal battle becomes deeply personal, making Ikka one of the week's most anticipated releases.
Peddi (Netflix)
Streaming from July 9
After its theatrical run, Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Peddi is making its digital debut on Netflix. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the period sports drama will stream in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, while the Hindi version will arrive later.
The film follows a daily-wage labourer with extraordinary cricketing talent who decides to fight for the dignity and rights of his forgotten village in Andhra Pradesh. Bringing sports with social issues, Peddi presents an emotional underdog story with Ram Charan leading the cast.

Malayalam sports drama Balti arrives on SonyLIV after its theatrical release. The film stars Shane Nigam in the lead role alongside an ensemble cast.
Set in the border town of Velampalayam between Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the story follows Udhayan, popularly known as Balti, an ambitious kabaddi player who enjoys a simple life with his close friends and devoted mother. However, after defeating the team of a local crime boss in a tournament, he finds himself caught in a dangerous conflict that changes his life forever.
I'm Not Afraid (Netflix)

Netflix is also bringing the coming-of-age thriller I'm Not Afraid to audiences this week. Adapted from Niccolò Ammaniti's acclaimed novel, the story unfolds during the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
The film centres on ten-year-old Miguel, who discovers a mysterious boy hidden inside a deep pit near an abandoned house. What begins as a curious friendship slowly turns into a disturbing mystery as Miguel realises the child has been kidnapped by people he once trusted.

Belgian actor and comedian Nawell Madani directs and stars in the emotional drama Nothing to Lose.
Madani plays Jade, a woman who finally becomes a mother after years of struggling to have a child. However, her happiness is short-lived when her newborn son is diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia. Faced with impossible odds, Jade begins a desperate search for a compatible donor, leading to an emotional journey about motherhood, resilience and hope.

The beloved comedy-drama Trying returns with its fifth season on Apple TV+.
The series once again stars Esther Smith and Rafe Spall as Nikki and Jason, whose family life finally seems settled after years of challenges. Their peace is disrupted when the biological mother of their adopted children unexpectedly re-enters their lives. The new season also features Charlotte Riley, Celia Imrie, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Colin Morgan, Darren Boyd, Siân Brooke and Phil Davis.
Parimala & Co (ZEE5)

Tamil black comedy thriller Parimala & Co premieres on ZEE5 this week. Directed by Pandiraaj, the film reunites Jayaram and Urvashi, one of Malayalam cinema's most loved on-screen pairs.
The story revolves around Parimala, a middle-aged family man whose life turns upside down after a neighbourhood troublemaker is found dead. Since everyone witnessed their public arguments, the police naturally begin investigating his family. The cast also includes Mysskin, Yogi Babu, Sandy, Santosh Sobhan, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy and Ananthika Sanilkumar.
The Westies (Prime Video)
Streaming from July 12
Crime drama fans can look forward to The Westies, which premieres with a two-episode launch on Amazon Prime Video. Led by J.K. Simmons, the eight-episode series is set in New York City's Hell's Kitchen and follows an Irish crime family dealing with internal power struggles. As tensions rise within the gang, its ageing leader is forced into risky alliances while the next generation begins questioning his authority.
