Late Korean actress Kim Sae Ron's father blames YouTuber for her death

The unexpected demise of 24-year-old South Korean actress Kim Sae Ron has left her admirers in deep shock, once again igniting discussions about the intense scrutiny and cyberbullying that public figures in the Korean entertainment industry endure after any scandal. While an outpouring of sorrow flooded social media platforms, some individuals also highlighted the relentless pressure imposed on celebrities, referencing Kim Sae Ron’s 2022 incident involving driving under the influence.

Although the Seoul Seongdong Police Station is actively examining details surrounding her passing, authorities have officially determined that she took her own life.

In an official statement to the press, law enforcement officers clarified, "We have concluded that she made an extreme decision and will be treating this case as a suicide," as reported by Yonhap News Agency. They further dismissed any suspicions of external foul play while asserting that inquiries into the precise circumstances of her death remain ongoing.


At the same time, Kim Sae Ron’s family has now spoken out, revealing that the actress had been suffering from severe emotional turmoil due to certain videos uploaded by a YouTuber. During her funeral proceedings, her father addressed the media, accusing the content creator of exacerbating her distress by sharing a video that criticized her for posting wedding-themed images on social media. The video’s caption, as cited by Koreaboo, read: “Kim Sae Ron’s self-harm again... Disappeared from the public eye after marriage speculations? Tried reaching out to her directly.”

Following her tragic passing, the contentious video was taken down. However, prior to its removal, the YouTuber had also shared multiple other videos, alleging that Kim Sae Ron had taken up a job at a café due to financial difficulties and casting doubts on her integrity. Her grieving family is reportedly gathering evidence on this matter to initiate legal proceedings against the individual responsible.

Kim Sae Ron’s Passing

On February 16, Kim Sae Ron was discovered deceased at her apartment in Seongsu-dong, located in Seongdong-gu, during the evening hours. A close acquaintance found her unresponsive in her home and immediately alerted law enforcement. Upon arrival, authorities found no indications of forced entry or suspicious circumstances. Later, the National Office of Investigation confirmed that her case would be classified as a presumed suicide and handled under the category of an “unattended death.”

Kim Sae Ron, widely recognized for her performances in A Brand New Life, Bloodhounds, The Man from Nowhere, and several other acclaimed projects, had previously faced significant controversy. Her involvement in a DUI incident subjected her to intense public criticism and backlash, further adding to the challenges she faced in recent years.
