Lata Mangeshkar hospitalised: Abhishek Bachchan, Prakash Javadekar, Shobhaa De extend prayers for speedy recovery

Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday after she tested positive for Covid-19 .

According to Dr Pratik Samdhani from the hospital, the legendary singer is also suffering from pneumonia. Hours after the news broke, Mumbai Mayor, Kishori Pednekar informed the media that the singer was asymptomatic and that she is healthy.

Ever since the development, actors, politicians and singers took to social media to wish a speedy recovery for the nightingale of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi enquired about the health of the celebrated singer after the news came to light.


Actor Abhishek Bachchan posted a tweet offering prayers for the speedy recovery of the singer. "Prayers for your speedy recovery @mangeshkarlata ji," he tweeted.
BJP MP Prakash Javadekar took to twitter to express his thoughts. "Get soon Lata Mangeshkar ji. Whole country is praying for your good health," said Javadekar.
Meanwhile, the singer's niece informed the media that the singer was doing fine and that she was being kept in the ICU for precautionary reasons. "She is doing fine; has been kept in ICU only for precautionary reasons considering her age. Please respect our privacy and keep Didi in your prayers," said Mangeshkar's niece Rachna.

Renowned columnist, Shobhaa De too posted on her Twitter handle wishing for a speedy recovery of the singer. "We need to hear your voice for years to come. Speedy recovery, Didi," she said in her post.

Mangeshkar has sung over 30,000 songs in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, and Malayalam, etc. Her contribution to music and expansive body of work has earned her accolades and several prestigious awards. The Bharat Ratna recipient has lent her voice to generations of actresses from Meena Kumari to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
