Popular Tamil actress Lakshmi Menon, known for her powerful screen presence, has found herself in the middle of a legal storm after being named in a case of alleged abduction and assault. The actor, who has bagged multiple awards and starred in acclaimed films, was granted anticipatory bail by the Kerala High Court, even as three of her co-accused were arrested and remanded to judicial custody, as per PTI.

Lakshmi Menon, who made her acting debut in the Malayalam film Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya before breaking through as a lead in Tamil cinema with Sundara Pandian, has built an impressive career. A recipient of a Filmfare Award South, a Tamil Nadu State Film Award, and two SIIMA Awards, she has been celebrated for her performances across Tamil and Malayalam films.

According to police, the case against her stems from an incident in Ernakulam on August 24. An IT professional was allegedly waylaid near a railway bridge by Menon and three others following an altercation at a bar. The group reportedly blocked his vehicle, verbally abused him, and forced him into their car, where he was assaulted before being released later that night, reported PTI. The other three accused were arrested on Tuesday and remanded to judicial custody, while Menon moved the Kerala High Court and secured protection from arrest on Wednesday.

As per reports, Ernakulam North police confirmed that a case was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including kidnapping or abduction, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, voluntarily causing hurt, obscene acts, and criminal intimidation.
