LA a favourite with Indians; over 130,000 tourists visited the City of Angels from India

New Delhi: The number of Indian travellers to Los Angeles jumped up a notch, and India went on to see the third highest year-on-year international growth market in 2018, the Los Angeles Tourism board said in a statement.

The tourism board said the destination achieved its 50 million visitors goal two years early as Los Angeles witnessed a 5.1% year on year growth increase with 130,000 Indian travellers jetting off to the City of Angels during the course of 2018.

The tourism board said in a clear indication of the Indian market’s value proposition, over the past 18 months, it has strategically invested in consumer marketing campaigns as well as continued hosting familiarisation trips to showcase the destination.

Overall, Los Angeles welcomed 50 million visitors for the first time-ever and accomplished the destination’s tourism goal two years early. The new record is 1.5 million visitors higher than 2017’s total – a 3.1% increase. City leaders and Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board President and CEO Ernest Wooden Junior made the at a gathering of L.A.’s tourism and hospitality community.

For the second time in a row, Japan retained its top spot as the world's most powerful passport in 2019, according to the Henley Passport Index.

The country became the world's most travel-friendly passport due to the document's access to 190 countries.
