The all-girl KPop band HUNTR/X is getting ready for another mission, and this time, their comeback might be bigger, louder, and even more supernatural. Following the massive success of KPop Demon Hunters, the most-watched and superhit animated musical is officially returning with a sequel. Fans can rejoice, as the makers have confirmed that the girl group’s demon-hunting adventures will continue in KPop Demon Hunters 2. However, the reunion might take a while, with the next instalment expected to arrive in 2029.

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Netflix and Sony have finalised a deal for the much-awaited sequel. The 2025 release turned out to be one of the most-watched animated films of the year, making the renewal almost inevitable. The sequel is currently in early development, and while the release date could shift depending on production, it’s clear that the filmmakers are aiming for an ambitious follow-up to the musical-action hit. It is reportedly expected to be released on Netflix in 2029.



The first KPop Demon Hunters captured global attention with their unique mix of music, mythology, and magic. It followed the KPop trio HUNTR/X - Rumi, Mira, and Zoey - who lead double lives as performers by day and demon hunters by night. Through their songs and concerts, they powered a mystical barrier called the Honmoon, which protected the human world from dark forces. But when a demon king named Gwi-Ma created a rival boy band, the Saja Boys, led by the conflicted Jinu, chaos ensued. The film combined heart-thumping K-pop energy with emotional storytelling, especially around Rumi’s battle with her own half-demon identity.

The voice cast that brought these beloved characters to life is also expected to return. Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo voiced the lead characters Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, while Ahn Hyo-seop lent his voice to the antagonist Jinu. The film also featured popular names like Lee Byung-hun, Ken Jeong, and Daniel Dae Kim in supporting roles.

Released on June 20, 2025, K-Pop Demon Hunters quickly became a sensation, praised for its music, visuals, and message of self-acceptance. It is currently streaming exclusively on Netflix, and the sequel is expected to follow the same route upon release.
