SOUTHAMPTON FOOTBALL TEAM A couple of months ago, the English Premier League team, during a match against Leicester, wore a one-off kit in support of Scope, a charity working towards people with disabilities. All the players of the team were seen wearing the custom kit on the pitch as well as during practice.

Campaign supported: Disability Gamechangers aims to create true equality for disabled people. It also works to create awareness about the issues faced by people who suffer from disabilities.
RED BULL RACING During the 2012 British Grand Prix, the Formula One team had pictures of fans on their cars in support of a charity, Wings for Life. Red Bull Racing made a collage of images that was displayed on the cars of its then drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.

Campaign supported: The charity, Wings for Life, works towards finding a treatment for spinal cord injuries and paraplegia. The money given by fans to get their faces featured on the cars, went towards support and research for the cause. Red Bull’s Dietrich Mateschitz is its co-founder.
LANCE ARMSTRONG The former cyclist may have been tainted by his admission of doping, but that doesn’t take away from the work he did when it came to charity by sporting the yellow band around his wrist for the Livestrong Foundation. Since 2004, Lance Armstrong has been seen wearing the band. Around 80 million such bands were sold and it became an iconic charity symbol. After his doping acceptance, the former cyclist resigned from the foundation.
Campaign supported: Livestrong Foundation works towards supporting those affected by cancer. It provides help in social and psychological aspects to cancer survivors.

SERENA WILLIAMS The tennis star chose to make her return to the sport last year post maternity with a cause. Williams chose March 8, Women’s Day, for her return to the court. She was seen wearing a ‘Serena Gold pin’ that featured the alphabet S. It was sold at the tournaments she played at as well as online. She said it stood for strength and sureness.

Campaign supported: Williams, along with older sister Venus, founded the Yetunde Price Resource Centre and these pins were to benefit that cause. The charity is named after their sister who was killed in a shooting.
NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE Less than two months ago, the NFL had their ‘My Cause My Cleats’ campaign, which saw players across the league wearing customised shoes. These cleats or shoes had to be in support of the cause they held close to their heart for one game only. More than 800 players participated in the campaign that was started in 2016. The shoes were auctioned, with the money going to that particular cause.
Campaign supported: Every player was free to select the cause that was most important to them. Some standout boots and causes were Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott who supported SPCA that works for abandoned and abused animals.
