King of comebacks: SRK-starrer ‘Pathaan’ sets box-office on fire, crosses Rs 200 cr globally

With one comeback, he has silenced all the naysayers as well and put all debates about his box-office pull to rest.

‘Pathaan’, the SRK comeback vehicle, has turned out to be a monstrous hit at the box-office. The Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer created history on its second day by earning almost Rs 70 crore at the box-office.

According to the figures shared by trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, the movie earned Rs 55 crore on its opening day. The combined figures come to Rs 123 crore, thereby making it the highest-grossing Hindi film to date. The Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions yielded about Rs 4.5 crore over the next two days.


Worldwide, the Siddharth Anand directorial has minted over Rs 200 crore.

The trade analyst wrote, “All BO records demolished. Pathaan creates history on Day 2 as well. First Hindi film to nearly Rs 70 crore in a single day. Wed 55 cr, Thursday 68 cr (Republic Day). Total: Rs 123 cr. Hindi version. India biz. Unimaginable. Unprecedented. Unstoppable.” He also gave the total earnings of the movie per day (both domestic and international). On the first day, the movie grossed Rs 106 crore, on the second day, it earned Rs 113 crore, bringing it to Rs 219 crore.
Ramesh Bala, an industry tracker, also tweeted that the SRK-Deepika Padukone starrer had crossed Rs 235 crore worldwide and was the number-one Indian film in Australia and North America.

The SRK Starrer Overtook ‘Avatar 2’ s Box Office Collection For A Day
Sounds unbelievable, but the impossible has happened! According to a Koimoi.com report, the SRK-Deepika Padukone starrer earned a whopping $13 million across the globe, thereby surpassing the James Cameron magnum opus, which minted $10 million on that day. The Twitter handle of American box office reports portal Exhibitor Relations Co tweeted that the Bollywood movie grossed $1 million dollars more than ‘Avatar 2’.

It Is The Highest-Grossing SRK Film
In a career spanning over two decades, the superstar has given many blockbusters at the box office. However, ‘Pathaan’ takes the cake when it comes to BO earnings. The last SRK film with the highest first-day collection was ‘Happy New Year’ in 2014.

Film With The Biggest Opening Day Collection
At Rs 55 crore, ‘Pathaan’ can now brag about being the Hindi film with the highest opening day collection. It has surpassed the Hindi dubbed version of ‘KGF 2’ as well as ‘War’, which earned Rs 53 and Rs 51.60 crore, respectively.

Highest Advance Bookings
According to reports, the SRK-Deepika Padukone-John Abraham starrer sold 4.10 lakh tickets in advance bookings in national cinema hall chains such as PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis.
