Under the hood, the Syros offers two powertrains: a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine delivering 120hp and 172Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT transmission. The second option is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine producing 115hp and 250Nm of torque, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Notably, the same petrol engine powers the Hyundai i20 N-line, Venue, and Kia Sonet, while the diesel engine is used in the Hyundai Venue, Creta, Carens, Seltos, and Sonet.
In terms of design, the Kia Syros showcases a fresh and bold aesthetic, following Kia's global design language. Drawing inspiration from the Kia Carnival, EV3, and EV9, the Syros features a boxy, upright profile with distinctive vertically stacked LED headlamps at the bumper’s edges. The headlamps incorporate three LED projector units and an innovative drop-down LED daytime running light design, similar to the Carnival. The front fascia is almost sealed, giving it an EV-like look, and air intakes are integrated into the blacked-out lower portion, accented with contrasting silver trim.
The side profile is defined by blacked-out A-, C-, and D-pillars, with body-coloured B-pillars creating a seamless window line. Other exterior highlights include prominent plastic cladding over the wheel arches, flush-fitting door handles, a unique kink in the rear window line, and 17-inch 3-petal alloy wheels. The rear of the Syros has a tall, minivan-like design with high-mounted L-shaped tail-lamps wrapping around the rear windscreen. The rear bumper features a stylish two-tone black and silver finish.
The Kia Syros is packed with advanced features designed to enhance comfort and convenience. It offers dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. The SUV is equipped with connected car technology, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and a panoramic sunroof. Other interior features include an electronic parking brake, reclining and sliding second-row seats with a centre armrest, a 60:40 split-folding rear seat configuration, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. The ADAS system includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring, among others.
