Today, he is celebrated as one of India’s most influential online educators, but there was a time when Khan Sir turned down an astonishing offer worth ₹107 crore. During a recent appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, the popular teacher reflected on that life-changing proposal and the personal struggles that shaped his decision.

A Childhood Marked By Financial Hardship

Speaking on the show, Khan Sir revisited his student days, describing how higher education often felt like a distant dream. He explained that during his youth, studying in hubs such as Kota was an aspiration shared by many, yet it remained out of reach due to financial limitations. Even today, he observed, a vast majority of students struggle to afford even basic travel expenses, including reserved train tickets.

He recalled traveling in overcrowded compartments, standing near the train doors out of fear of being fined for not having proper tickets. The anxiety of being penalized a few hundred rupees was enough to keep him from stepping inside. In such circumstances, paying lakhs of rupees merely to attend coaching institutes seemed unimaginable. At that time, online education had not yet emerged as an option, and attending physical classes demanded an enormous financial commitment running into nearly two lakh rupees annually.

Why He Rejected ₹107 Crore

Reflecting further, Khan Sir shared that when a lucrative corporate opportunity came his way, he could not erase the memories of his early struggles. The physical pain he endured and the hardships he witnessed among fellow students remained fresh in his mind. He felt certain that countless young aspirants were still facing similar challenges. That awareness guided his choice to stay committed to affordable education rather than pursue immense personal wealth.

He also remarked that even the most powerful empires eventually collapse, suggesting that money alone cannot guarantee permanence. Interestingly, he noted that the company which had once extended the massive offer is no longer in existence.

Net Worth And Earnings

According to a report by News18, estimates of Khan Sir’s net worth vary widely, ranging from ₹5 crore to ₹20 crore. Since he has never publicly disclosed his assets or filed any election affidavit, the exact figure remains uncertain. Some media sources place it around ₹5–6 crore, while others speculate it could be ₹18 crore or higher.
