Khaled Hosseini’s daughter comes out as transgender, author calls her beautiful and brilliant

Acclaimed author Khaled Hosseini took to Twitter to announce that his daughter has come out as transgender. The author of ‘The Kite Runner’ expressed his joy and said that he has never been prouder of her. He said that the process was painful for her. The author said that his daughter is sober to the cruelty that trans people are subjected to, but is strong and undaunted.

“Yesterday, my daughter Haris came out as transgender. I’ve never been prouder of her. She has taught our family so much about bravery and truth. I know this process was painful for her. She is sober to the cruelty trans people are subjected to. But she is strong and undaunted,” tweeted Hosseini.
The author of ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ went on to share an old photograph of him with his daughter in the same tweet. Hosseini expressed his love and said that his daughter is beautiful, wise and brilliant. In the subsequent tweet, Hosseini announced that he will be by the side of his daughter in every step forward and that his family stands behind her staunchly.


“I love my daughter. She is beautiful, wise, brilliant. I will be by her side every step of the way. Our family stands behind her,” said read Hosseini’s tweet.

The author and his wife Roya have two children Haris and Farah. When it comes to his beliefs, the author claims that he is a secular Muslim. Hosseini shot to fame after he published ‘The Kite Runner’ in 2003, the acclaimed novel was later adapted into a film by Marc Foster.
