Kerala plane crash: SRK, Mahindra, Kohli express grief, Sonu Sood urges people to do their bit

The tragic crash-landing of an Air India Express Boeing 737 at the Kozhikode International Airport in Kerala on Friday caused 18 casualties, according to local officials. The Vande Bharat repatriation flight from Dubai was carrying 190 people, said the civil aviation ministry.

Soon after social media was flooded with messages of support, prayers and condolences for those in the plane.

Shah Rukh Khan, in a tweet, said, "My heart goes out to the passengers and crew members onboard the #AirIndia flight. Deepest condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones. Thoughts and prayers."


Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who recently returned home from the hospital after recovering from Covid-19, also sent out prayers for the families of the deceased, "A terrible tragedy .. Air India crash in Kerala, Kozhikode airport, plane skids off the runway on landing in heavy rain .. Prayers."

Kamal Haasan lauded the 'under-equipped staff of the airport' and the citizens of Calicut who came out to help in dealing with tragedy swiftly.

"Condolences to the families who lost their members in the Kozhikode crash. Best wishes to those recovering in Hospitals. Kudos to the citizens of Calicut and the under-equipped staff of the airport. More strength to the already overworked medical professionals of Kerala," Hasaan tweeted.

Mahindra boss Anand Mahindra in a thought-provoking tweet said, "They lived away from their families so that they could work for them. They were coming home... Every day we are forced to fight against the conclusion that life is relentlessly & inexplicably cruel..."


Sonu Sood urged people to go beyond showing their concern with words and rather do their bit.



Actor Akshay Kumar and Indian skipper Virat Kohli also offered condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the tragedy.



Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar also sent out a tweet praying for those onboard the Air India Express flight. He also retweeted a call for blood donation by the official handle of Blood Donors India.



Two special relief flights have been arranged from Delhi and one from Mumbai for rendering humanitarian assistance to all the passengers and the family members in the crash-landing incident at Kozhikode, according to Air India Express.

Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Flight Safety Departments have reached to investigate the incident, Air India Express stated.
