Kennedy OTT debut confirmed

The long-awaited Indian digital release of Kennedy has finally been confirmed, bringing Anurag Kashyap’s neo-noir crime thriller to a wider audience after a prolonged festival and international run. Starring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone in lead roles, the film will skip a theatrical release in India and premiere directly on an OTT platform later this month. The announcement puts an end to months of speculation among viewers who missed its limited screenings at global film festivals.

Kennedy first made its mark internationally when it premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where it was showcased in the Midnight Screenings section. The film later screened at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, earning attention for its bleak tone and character-driven storytelling. Despite its global exposure, the film remained unavailable for Indian streaming audiences until now.

The makers have confirmed that Kennedy will begin streaming on ZEE5 from February 20, 2026. The platform announced the release date through its official social media handles, describing the film as dark, intense, and distinctly reflective of Anurag Kashyap’s filmmaking style. Director Anurag Kashyap also shared the announcement, highlighting that the film’s internationally recognised story is finally arriving on Indian screens via ZEE5. Viewers with an active subscription will be able to stream the film from the release date.

Story and Cast

Kennedy is set in a grim and morally complex world, focusing on a former police officer named Uday Shetty. Presumed dead by society, he survives in the shadows under the alias Kennedy, operating as a contract killer within a corrupt system. The narrative follows his life marked by insomnia, addiction, violence, and isolation, as he struggles with his past and seeks redemption. Rather than offering clear moral answers, the film places viewers inside the troubled mind of its central character, allowing ambiguity and psychological tension to drive the story forward.

Rahul Bhat plays the dual role of Uday Shetty, also known as Kennedy, while Sunny Leone appears as Charlie. The supporting cast includes Mohit Takalkar as Rasheed Khan, Abhilash Thapliyal as Chandan, Megha Burman as Anuradha, Shrikant Yadav as Abhijit Kaale, Kurush Deboo as a bookie linked to Shetty, Karishma Modi as film actress Gunjan Arora, and Aamir Dalvi as Saleem Kattawala. The ensemble adds depth to the film’s dark and layered narrative.
