Kelsey Grammer sees Hollywood 'Softening' to conservatism: How Trump’s influence is shaping the industry?

Grammer, who has long been an outspoken conservative, shared his thoughts on Hollywood’s evolving political landscape during an interview with Fox News Digital. He acknowledged that while some in the industry remain firmly entrenched in their liberal views, others are beginning to reconsider their stance.
“I think in terms of the industry, there’s some people who just, they decided to close their minds off, and they kept them closed,” Grammer explained. “But others seem to be softening a little.”
This observation is part of a larger trend that Grammer believes is gradually making conservatism more appealing to those in Hollywood. “It’s a program of attraction,” he said, drawing parallels to Alcoholics Anonymous, where change is often seen as a process of making a positive stance more desirable.
A New Path for Hollywood?
For Grammer, conservatism has always represented a set of values based on reason, fairness, and open-mindedness. These principles, he argues, are the very foundation of conservative thought. “This has never been a position based upon anything but trying to make sense and being open-minded and fair to people,” he said. “And that’s the foundational thinking behind conservatism. So for me, that’s where I always wanted to be.”But is this shift from Hollywood's long-standing liberal identity a passing trend, or a more permanent transformation? According to Grammer, the idea of conservatism is now "more attractive" to some, even if it may never appeal to everyone.
Trump and the Reawakening of American Values
While Grammer’s views have always aligned with the right, he also expressed hope for a broader political reset in America. Reflecting on the tenure of former President Donald Trump, Grammer shared his belief that the nation needs a return to authenticity and accountability in its leadership.“I certainly hope that we just reestablish ourselves as a country that means what it says and says what it means,” Grammer remarked. He voiced frustration with the previous administration, calling it "insincere" and “misrepresentative,” adding that this lack of authenticity led to the rise of Trump, whose direct approach resonated with many Americans.
“The last four years were just loaded with misrepresentation,” he said, referring to the political climate under President Biden. “I think a lot of people took their eye off of what the whole meaning of service is. And it’s to look after the folks, to look after the people.”
The Price of Political Beliefs in Hollywood
Despite Grammer’s optimism about a changing landscape, he acknowledges the challenges that come with being openly conservative in Hollywood. He recently joked about President Trump’s choice of special ambassadors to Hollywood—Mel Gibson, Jon Voight, and Sylvester Stallone—and wondered aloud why he wasn’t included. But the real concern, Grammer says, lies in the social barriers faced by conservative voices in the entertainment industry.Grammer’s remarks resonate with other industry veterans, including Jon Voight, who has publicly stated that conservatives have been “blackballed” by Hollywood. While Grammer disagrees with that assessment, acknowledging that he’s worked consistently despite his political views, he recognizes the challenges that some conservatives may face in an industry still dominated by liberal perspectives.
