Kelly Clarkson’s New York City home near Central Park has an unusual feature that turns the idea of seasonal decorating on its head. The Grammy-winning singer, who moved her talk show production to New York in 2023, has a dedicated Christmas room that remains decorated long after the festive season ends. Rather than dismantling the decorations every year, Clarkson simply closes the doors and returns whenever she wants a little holiday cheer. The singer recently revealed how her family continues using the room throughout the year.

Kelly Clarkson’s New York home has a Christmas room she keeps decorated

In a recent conversation with actor Robin Wright, Clarkson revealed that one room in her spacious Manhattan rental is dedicated entirely to Christmas. The singer, who has two children, admitted that decorating the room took so much effort that she decided not to repeat the process every year. She decorated it the "first year for Christmas" and then decided to "shut the doors until [next] Christmas" instead of taking everything down and starting fresh again.

However, the room does not remain untouched until December. Clarkson explained that her family regularly steps inside to dance and play Christmas music, allowing them to enjoy the festive atmosphere throughout the year. “We literally will go in there and dance throughout the year,” she said, as reported by Architectural Digest.

The singer’s professional life brought her to New York after production of The Kelly Clarkson Show moved there in 2023. Her Manhattan residence is a rental, while she also maintains homes in California and Montana. Clarkson has described her Montana ranch as her “forever home,” distinguishing it from her New York base. The Manhattan property, meanwhile, has provided room for the singer and her family to create personal spaces, including the year-round Christmas room.

The singer’s living room offers another interior detail worth noting. Generally, the seating arrangement is made with the TV in mind. However, that is not the case in Heartbeat Song singer's house. According to Homes & Gardens, the seating arrangement follows a classic conversational layout, with a sofa facing two armchairs across a coffee table. The design allows several people to sit together and talk without having to turn towards a television or another focal point.

Clarkson’s space features a cream bouclé sofa paired with two green chenille barrel armchairs positioned opposite one another. The contrasting upholstery brings texture and colour into the room without relying on an elaborate decorative scheme. A striped pouf beside the sofa adds another practical element. It can serve as a side table or provide an extra seat when guests arrive, according to Homes & Gardens.

Kelly Clarkson’s reported net worth and recent controversy

Clarkson’s home interiors have also drawn attention amid recent headlines about the singer. According to Celebrity Net Worth, her reported net worth is $60 million. She rose to fame after winning the first season of American Idol and went on to build a career spanning music and television. Rolling Stone ranked her among its 200 Greatest Singers of All Time.

More recently, Clarkson took to X to criticise a store in Brooklyn, after alleging that she had been treated unfairly during a visit. She said she had travelled to the shop intending to buy several items but felt she was being judged on whether she could afford them. In her post, Clarkson recalled being offered something “comparable” instead of the item she wanted. She compared the experience to Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman and called the interaction insulting.

The store, meanwhile, reportedly said that the artefact at the centre of the dispute was not for sale and was permanently attached to the wall. Clarkson disputed that account in a follow-up post, saying she had been told the piece cost $15,000 and had been offered a comparable alternative. She subsequently described the store as “rude” and called its account a “lie”.
