Kelly Clarkson splits from husband Brandon Blackstock, files for divorce after 7 years of marriage

Robert Soros, son of the billionaire investor George Soros, was locked in a dispute with estranged wife, Melissa Schiff, over their art collection. The contentious artworks included a Christopher Wool painting, an untitled work bearing the word ‘FOOL’ in capital letters. In 2106, the New York Post reported that the disputed painting had risen in value by $7 million. It was purchased for $420,000 in 1999. Robert, who filed for divorce in 2014 after 22 years of marriage, insisted he bought the art with his own funds. Melissa, however, claimed that the pieces were bought in her name alone, according to the report.

Swiss businessman Maurice Alain Amon and Tracey Hejailan were married for seven years before they filed for divorce in 2018. During the divorce proceedings, Tracey accused her husband of absconding with artworks worth $25 million in her absence and Maurice accused her of allegedly taking a blowtorch to his priceless art collection and partially or totally destroying a Richard Prince, Andy Warhol’s 1966 self-portrait and Damien Hirst’s ‘Acridine’. Prior to that, Tracey had filed a restraining order against Maurice as he was trying to put up Jean-Michel Basquiat’s ‘Saxophone’ (1986) up for auction.

When the founders of Wynn resorts decided to split, the biggest question was who would inherit their massive art collection. The couple came to an agreement reportedly because of different tastes. Elaine chose a Manet pastel of Suzette Lemaire, a Joan Mitchell abstract and a textile work by Jim Hodges. Stephen, who is celebrated for his vast art collection, walked away with works of Rembrandt, Vincent van Gogh and Johannes Vermeer. Stephen also possessed the famous Picasso ‘Le Rêve’, which he later sold to Steve Cohen.

David and Libbie Mugrabi were an art-world power couple known for their enormous collection of Andy Warhol paintings and works by Basquiat, George Condo and Keith Haring. The Mugrabis filed for divorce in 2018 after David was caught skinny-dipping with an unnamed brunette at the couple’s nine-bedroom East Hampton estate, while Libbie slept upstairs. David is the scion of a powerful art-dealing family that is reportedly worth billions and owns some 1,000 works by Warhol, making it the world’s largest private holding. The couple, who have no prenup, are fighting a nasty battle over the art collection.
