Keerthy Suresh’s 'Raghu Thatha' OTT release date confirmed. Check languages and when and where to watch

Keerthy Suresh’s political comedy movie ‘Raghu Thatha’ (translation: ‘Grandfather Raghu’) is all set to make its OTT debut! The film will premiere on ZEE5 on September 13. The movie, which hit the theatres on Independence Day, received mixed responses from critics and had a lukewarm response at the box-office. Here’s all you need to know about the movie.

When the movie releases on ZEE5 for its OTT premiere, the Keerthy Suresh starrer will be accessible not just in Tamil but also in Telugu and Kannada languages.

About ‘Raghu Thatha’

‘Raghu Thatha’ or ‘Grandfather Raghu’, is a satirical political drama. Helmed by debutante director Suman Kumar. Headlined by Keerthy Suresh, ‘Raghu Thatha’ is the story of Kayalvizhi "Kayal" Pandian, an upper-division clerk in Madras Central Bank, who is an unapologetic feminist and a passionate advocate against the imposition of Hindi language. She is also a budding author who is forced to take a male pseudonym. Kayal’s independence is jeopardised when her grandfather and closest ally Raghothaman is diagnosed with stomach cancer. In a last-ditch attempt to make her grandfather happy, she agrees to tie the knot to a friend called Selvan. However, he soon reveals his true colours to her. Kayal then embarks on a desperate mission to expose Selvan and have her marriage dissolved.


Along with Keerthy Suresh, the movie also features actors such as M. S. Bhaskar, Ravindra Vijay, Devadarshini, Jayakumar Parameswaran Pillai, Rajeev Ravindranathan, Anandsami, Rajesh Balachandiran, and Aadhira Pandilakshmi.

The movie is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films, marking their first venture into Tamil cinema. Officially unveiled in December 2022 with the title Raghu Thatha, the film began principal shooting that same month. Filming took place mostly in Chennai and concluded by mid-May 2023. The soundtrack is composed by Sean Roldan, with Yamini Yagnamurthy overseeing cinematography and editing managed by T. S. Suresh.
