Nothing, not even battling with cancer or rumours of a rift with her husband, can prevent the Princess of Wales from fulfilling her responsibilities. Kate Middleton recently made a rare public appearance along with her husband, Prince William, and King Charles to welcome the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The Princess Of Wales Makes A Fashion Statement In Burgundy
Kate looked like a vision in a burgundy coloured dress that was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Kate paid homage to Queen Elizabeth by wearing Bahrain pearl drop earrings and a Japanese pearl choker necklace, both cherished pieces from the late monarch’s collection.
The central London event was a grand display of tradition and ceremony, where Princess Kate appeared composed and elegant as she welcomed the Emir of Qatar. This marked only her third public engagement since completing chemotherapy in September. While she missed the state banquet held in the Emir's honor, her presence at the formal welcome symbolized her gradual return to royal duties after her health battle.
The Prince of Wales offered quiet support during the emotional occasion, seen gently placing a hand on Kate’s back. Meanwhile, the King was joined by the Queen Consort for a private lunch at Buckingham Palace with the Emir and Sheikha Jawaher, despite Camilla missing the public ceremony due to lingering effects of pneumonia. Later, the royal family and their guests viewed a collection of Qatari artefacts.
The Emir, in turn, paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, recalling her description of Qatar as “old and valued friends” of the UK. He lauded the King’s dedication to interfaith dialogue, peace-building, and environmental sustainability, while also expressing heartfelt wishes for the King’s recovery during his cancer treatment.
