Karl Lagerfeld's pet cat Choupette reveals why she decided to ditch Met Gala 2023 red carpet
Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld's beloved cat and the world's third richest, declined an invitation to attend the Met Gala 2023, dedicated to the late designer, and instead opted to stay at home.

After inheriting $13 million from her late designer Karl Lagerfeld, Choupette holds the sixth position on the pet-rich list of the world.
Met Gala 2023, the fashion's biggest night dedicated to the late fashionista and designer Karl Lagerfeld, was a star-studded event, but fans were keen to catch a glimpse of his beloved cat Choupette on Tuesday.
The 12-year-old feline, who was set to make a starry arrival on the red carpet, took to Instagram to reveal that she was planning to ditch the prestigious gala. Met Gala's entry Also read: Desi girls rule at Met!
Thanking her fans and her "daddy's admirers", Choupette said she was thrilled to see everyone's "kindest enthusiasm and unconditional support."
Her official Instagram post read, "A million thanks to all of you my fans, animal lovers & Daddy's admirers. You have all shown the kindest enthusiasm and unconditional support, I say Merci!"
After inheriting $13 million from her late owner, Choupette became the world's third richest cat and holds the sixth position on the pet-rich list of the world.
While many failed to make it to the guest list of the coveted event, Choupette received an exclusive invitation from Vogue editor-in-chief and Met Gala co-chair Anna Wintour. However, the pet cat revealed that she decided to stay peacefully at home than attend the gala.
"Many people invited me to walk the red carpet of the Met Gala 2023 in tribute to Daddy, but we preferred to stay peacefully and cozy at home. We pay tribute to my Daddy every day since his parting and we are very moved to see one more day dedicated to him. With love, forever, Choupette," Choupette's Instagram post concluded.
The theme of this year's Met Gala was 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty'. The A-listers were asked to dress "in honour of Karl."

Meanwhile, Choupette's absence was short-lived as Hollywood star Jared Leto wore a giant Choupette costume to the Met Gala red carpet. Jared Leto goes as a cat Leto's costume showed the white and fluffy Burmese cat with its enormous blue eyes. The outfit was a tribute to Lagerfeld and his beloved pet.

In another tribute to one of the richest cats in the world, American rapper-singer Doja Cat also wore a prosthetic cat nose and a hooded Oscar de la Renta gown fitted with cat ears.
