During a vintage episode of Koffee With Karan Season 2, Kareena shared a candid memory—one that surprised fans and showed a lesser-known side of her. When Karan Johar asked her how their romance had blossomed, Kareena laughed, exposing the effort behind what the world assumed was effortless. “He never made the first move,” she said with a playful grin. “For two whole months, I was the one texting, calling, asking him to meet. He was shy… reserved. Eventually, we did meet, and that’s when things took off—but it was me who had to push for it.”

Sitting beside her on that coffee couch, Shahid Kapoor smiled quietly as she recounted how she chased the man who would become her partner, at least for a while. Though they collaborated on several films, not all their projects struck gold. When asked in a past interview with Bombay Times why their movies didn’t quite capture the magic audiences expected, Shahid answered honestly, “We didn’t look great together in our first few movies. Jab We Met clicked because the story and the characters were strong—it wasn’t just us. I personally liked how I looked on-screen with Sonakshi, Amrita Rao, and Priyanka Chopra more.”


Their romance, which bloomed around 2004, came to an end in 2007. The breakup was sudden, and no official reason was ever shared.

While they were both a part of the cast of the 2016 movie ‘Udta Punjab,’ they have never co-starred in any film after ‘Jab We Met.’
