Kareena Kapoor Khan's online income tax account hacked; false return of Rs 7 lakh filed

An unidentified person has submitted false in come tax returns of Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan for the period 2015-16 on August 2.

The hacker, using the actor's PAN number and password, went online and uploaded the form before the last date for individuals -August 5. Kareena's chartered accountant (CA) Prakash Thakkar, on noticing the suspicious entries and the I-T return filing, lodged a complaint with the cyber police station in Bandra Kurla Complex on Friday .

The police said the actor's CA files the returns in September after completing the auditing of income. In the complaint, Thakkar said, “Someone has used the actor's PAN card number and password to file her income tax returns. The actor was not aware of it. The imposter hacked into my client's account after procuring the confidential details illegally .“

Based on a complaint, the cyber police has sought information from the I-T department to track down the imposter. “Thakkar said that he logged into the actor's account on September 30 to file the I-T return. He then noticed that it was already submitted. So he called up the actor to check with her whether she filed the return on August 2 and showed her income to be somewhere between Rs 6-7 lakhs,“ said a cyber police officer.

A case has been registered under IPC Sections 419 (cheating by impersonation), 66(computer-related offences) and 66 C (identity theft) of the Information Technology Act .
