Putting an end to Karan Johar's 7-year long directorial hiatus, 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' finally hit the cinemas on Friday and the film seems to have a decent box office start.

The romantic flick marks the on-screen reunion of Ranveer Singh & Alia Bhatt after 2019's 'Gully Boy'.

The film's storyline and the performances by its lead actors seems to have struck the right chord with the audience. Expectations are that the movie will earn around Rs 15 crore domestically on July 29.

The hype around the film has been high ever since its trailer was dropped online earlier this month. With a strong response on its opening day, 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani'is expected to dominate the box office in the coming days.

Johar's last directorial 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', which released in 2016 had earned Rs 240 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk.com.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh stated that it's a well-packaged entertainer that encompasses drama, emotions, romance, music seamlessly. He also said that the film "has merits to emerge a success story".

Entertainment industry tracker Ramesh Bala said that the film is "off to a good start at the All India Box office. Considering non-holiday."
