The makers have officially confirmed that Karakkam will stream on SonyLIV after its theatrical run. While the platform has not announced the exact release date yet, it has confirmed that the film will premiere sometime in July 2026.SonyLIV also revealed that the film will be available not only in Malayalam but also in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, making it accessible to a wider audience across India. An exact premiere date is expected to be announced closer to the digital release.
What is Karakkam about?
Released in theatres on May 28, 2026, Karakkam follows two careless youngsters who pull out five brass crosses from a church cemetery on New Year's Eve. Their actions awaken five angry spirits, and the pair soon find themselves haunted. With danger closing in, they must find a way to undo their mistake before it is too late.The film blends supernatural horror with comedy while using music as an important part of its storytelling.
Cast and crew
Directed by Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian, who previously helmed Charles Enterprises, the film stars Sreenath Bhasi as Dhanush and Femina George as Pinki.The supporting cast includes Praveen T. J., Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Shaun Romy, Sidharth Bharathan, Bijukuttan, Midhutty, Manikandan R. Achari and Jean Paul Lal.
The screenplay and dialogues have been written by Nipin Narayanan, Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian and Arjun Narayanan, based on a story by Dhanush Varghese. The film has been produced by Kimberly Trinidade and Ankush Singh under the banners Krown Stars Entertainment and Black Turtle Productions.
Bablu Aju handled the cinematography, while Nidhin Raj Arol served as the editor. The music and background score were composed by Sam C. S., with songs featuring lyrics by Anwar Ali, Vinayak Sasikumar, Muhsin Parari (Muri) and Hareesh Mohanan.
