Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis took notice of the matter, and replied to the comedian on Twitter. BJP MP Kirit Somaiya also tweeted.

Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma is in the news once again, and this time not for his comic timing. The actor was apparently asked for a bribe by a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official for his new office that is under construction.

The comedian, who has over 6.2 million followers on Twitter, vent his ire on the social media platform. In a tweet tagging the Prime Minister, he lamented that despite paying taxes for the last 15 years, he was expected to cough up a bribe of Rs 5 lakh:



The BMC, sensing the damage, was quick to reply to the actor-comedian. BMC's vigilance chief engineer Manohar Pawar tried to do some damage-control by stating that the agency has taken a serious view of the corruption. He also requested the actor to name the person who had apporached him for a bribe.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis also took notice of the matter, and replied to Sharma on Twitter:
