Kanye West has returned to Twitter, now known as X.
Kanye West is back on Twitter! The social media, now renamed X, has reinstated the controversial rapper's official account after an approximate eight-month suspension.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, West's account was restored after he provided assurance to the company that he would not use the platform to spread antisemitic or harmful language.

The reinstatement marks the end of a tumultuous period for the 'Stronger' rapper, who in the past faced severe consequences due to his past antisemitic remarks.

West's account on X was suspended in December 2022 when he shared an image depicting a Nazi swastika embedded within the Star of David.

Elon Musk, the owner of X, attributed the suspension to "incitement to violence," leading to widespread public debate on free speech and content moderation on social media platforms.

West's absence from the platform has been felt significantly, considering his massive following of more than 31 million users.

In the aftermath of his suspension, the rapper claimed to have lost a staggering $2 billion in business deals, with Adidas being one of the major companies severing ties with him, as per Variety.

The termination of their partnership resulted in the discontinuation of his highly successful Yeezy-branded sneakers.

Furthermore, West's ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, addressed the difficulties she faced in dealing with his hateful remarks on a recent episode of Hulu's 'The Kardashians'.

She shed light on the impact of public figures' actions on personal relationships and brand reputation.

Meanwhile, Musk announced a significant rebranding of the platform last week, renaming it X. He expressed his fondness for the letter and revealed plans for the new X app to encompass various features, including audio, video, messaging, and even payments/banking services, according to CEO Linda Yaccarino.

The rebranding also involved placing a strikingly bright 'X' sign on top of X's San Francisco headquarters, symbolising the platform's transformation.

Musk's acquisition of Twitter for a staggering $44 billion in October 2022 led to sweeping changes on the platform, including reduced content moderation and the termination of thousands of employees.
