Kannada star Darshan served biryani behind bars after arrest for murdering fan

Being famous definitely has its perks …. It can get you a bowl of piping hot biryani, even when you are behind bars for homicide! Kannada star Darshan who is now languishing in prison for allegedly killing a youth called Renuka Swamy, has been served biriyani.

According to a TV9 Kannada report, the not-so ‘Majestic’ star was served biryani on Tuesday. However, he looked absolutely despondent and kept his eyes on the floor.


Darshan allegedly took a Dolo 650 tablet for relief before being arrested by Bengaluru police in Mysuru. He was then transferred to Bengaluru and placed in a 6-day police custody. Authorities are probing his connection to the Renuka Swamy murder case and have confiscated his phone. Additionally, a red jeep purportedly used by Darshan and his associates to dispose of Renuka's body on June 8, 2024, has been seized. Renuka Swamy's body was found on the same day at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru. He was reportedly working at an Apollo Pharmacy in Chitradurga and was fatally injured with a wooden log.

Renuka was murdered by Darshan and his associates for allegedly sending improper messages and pictures of his private parts to Darshan’s rumoured girlfriend Pavithra Gowda.

Renuka was a 33-year-old youth. He worked at the pharmacy and was a fan of the actor. He leaves behind a pregnant widow, a pair of ageing parents, and grandparents.

Swamy’s wife Sahana vehemently denied that her husband had sent lurid messages to Gowda. She also maintained that even if he was guilty, he could have been let off with a warning. “My husband called me on June 8 afternoon. If my husband had sent derogatory messages on social media, he should have been given a warning. What was the need to kill him,” she told Deccan Herald.
