Veteran Kannada film and theatre figure Sadananda Suvarna passed away at a private hospital in Mangaluru on July 16 at the age of 92 due to age-related health issues.

Suvarna, born on December 31, 1931, in Mulki near Mangaluru, moved to Mumbai in his youth. There, he attended night school while working for a private company.

Suvarna is renowned for his 13-part television series, 'Guddada Bhoota,' which he produced and directed in 1991 for Doordarshan. The series provided a significant breakthrough for veteran film actor Prakash Raj.

His documentary 'Huchchu Manassina Hatthu Mukagalu,' about Jnanpith awardee Dr. K Shivarama Karanth, received wide acclaim. Suvarna also directed the popular play 'Court Marshal' and was honored with the BV Karanth Award.
