Bachchan, who happens to be a Samajwadi party MP, launched a veiled attack at Kishan, saying 'don't bite the hand that feeds you'.
After engaging in a bitter war-of-words with the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena government over the demolition of her Pali Hill office, Kangana Ranaut took to Twitter on Thursday to slam veteran actress Jaya Bachchan's remarks in the Rajya Sabha, where she raised the issue of the film industry being defamed by a section of people.
Ranaut, in a scathing attack on the 'Kabhi Khushi, Kabhie Gham' actress, asked Bachchan if she would have said the same thing had her daughter, Shweta Bachchan Nanda been 'beaten, drugged and molested as a teenage (sic)' or if her son Abhishek 'complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day?'. Ranaut, retweeting a video of Bachchan's comments, asked the actress to show 'some compassion to us'.

Bachchan's comments in the Rajya Sabha were directed at MP Ravi Kishan, who had raised serious questions about the conduct of Bollywood in the upper house of Parliament, alleging that the industry was in the 'grip of drugs'. "Some arrests have been made by (Narcotics Control Bureau) NCB and I request the Government to further investigate to find out the culprits and eliminate this from our country,” Kishan had said.

“I heard an actor, whom I don’t wish to name, yesterday labelled serious allegations against the film industry. I strongly condemn his views. Jis Thali Me Khate Hain Usi Me Chhed Karte Hain (There are people who bite the hands that feed them),” she said and sought protection of the film industry from the government.
