In her Instagram post on Sunday, the 34-year-old actress revealed that she gained 20 kgs in six months for the movie, and lost the same within the next six months.
The actress wrote that the physical transformation messed up a few things in her body. Detailing out one of the side-effects, she said that she is now left with permanent stretch marks. "Art comes to life with a price and more often than not price is the artist him/herself," she concluded.
'Thalaivii' showcases the varied aspects of Jayalalithaa, tracing her journey as an actress at a young age to becoming the face of Tamil cinema, as well as the rise of the revolutionary leader who changed the course of the state's politics.
The biopic on late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister released in Indian theatres and on OTT platforms on September 10.

Ranaut has already started working on her next project 'Dhaakad', and shooting for 'Tejas', where she plays a fighter pilot.
