Kangana Ranaut congratulates music maestro Ricky Kej for his 3rd Grammy win

Bollywood ‘Queen’ Kangana Ranaut congratulated composer Ricky Kej for winning the Grammy for the third time.

The normally eloquent ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ star decided to keep it short and sweet this time around. Taking to Twitter, she retweeted his post after winning the award, along with the caption, "Congratulations, sir.” She also dropped a bunch of emojis, including the national flag. Her post gained more than 42K views and 887 likes.
Bengaluru-based Kej scored a hat-trick as he took home a Grammy for the third time. He bagged the Grammy in the category of Best Immersive Audio Album for the album ‘Divine Tides’ (co-composed with rock icon Steward Copeman, the drummer of the evergreen British rock band ‘The Police’.


Taking to Twitter, Kej dedicated his win to India. He wrote, “Just won my 3rd Grammy Award. Extremely grateful, am speechless! I dedicate this award to India."
Earlier, Kej won two Grammys under the Best New Age Album category - in 2015 for his album ‘Winds of Samsara’ and in 2022 for ‘Divine Tides’. At 34, he became the youngest Indian to have won a Grammy and only the fourth Indian overall to grab the prestigious award. ‘The Winds of Samsara’ also topped the US Billboard New Age Albums Chart, in August 2014 - a first for a person of Indian origin.

Although music was his calling, the half-Punjabi-half-Marwari composer holds a degree in dentistry from Oxford Medical College. A prolific composer, his vast repertoire of work includes no less than sixteen studio albums, jingle bells, and music composed for over 3500 advertisements, and four feature films. He has also composed the soundtrack for the 2019 wildlife and natural history documentary ‘Wild Karnataka’ narrated by Sir David Attenborough. He also came up with the music for the 2011 Cricket World Cup opening ceremony held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Kej is passionate about environmental issues and conservation. His album ‘Shanti Samsara- World Music For Environmental Consciousness’ was launched on 2015 at the United Nations Climate Change Conference by PM Narendra Modi.
