‘Kalki 2898 AD’: From Vijay Deverakonda to Dulquer Salman, 5 South bigwigs who appeared in cameos

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is grabbing eyeballs not just for its larger-than-life VFX effects and mythological references, but also for the star-studded cast! Led by Telugu superstar Prabhas, Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan, and Tamil icon Kamal Haasan, this Nag Ashwin directorial was the most anticipated tentpole movie this year. While the main cast no doubt consists of heavyweights, the cameos are no less happening!

From SS Rajamouli to Vijay Deverakonda, many bigwigs from the South have made special appearances in the movie!

SS Rajamouli

After working in two blockbusters Baahubali 1 & 2, Telugu auteur SS Rajamouli and Prabhas are back together, this time as co-stars! The RRR director made his acting debut in the magnum opus. He is playing a rival bounty hunter to Prabhas’s Bhairava.

In a viral clip, Rajamouli is telling Prabhas’s character that he will keep him busy for ten years. This made many fans chuckle as it was a meta-reference to the fact that Prabhas dedicated 10 years of his life to the 'Baahubali' franchise.

Vijay Deverakonda

The Telugu heartthrob has essayed the role of Lord Krishna in the movie! He was seen sporting long hair and moustache in the video clips.

Dulquer Salman

The ‘Sita Ramam’ star looked very dishy as the Captain who is shown to be Bhairava’s guardian.

Mrunal Thakur

DQ’s co-star from Sita Ramam, Mrunal Thakur has also made an appearance in the epic sci-fi fantasy. The star stole the show as a lab subject who gets impregnated before Deepika’s character Sumathi.

Ram Gopal Varma

The ‘Rangeela’ director is seen in the role of a restaurant owner Chintu.

The movie hit the big screens on 27 June and is expected to become a certified All Time Blockbuster. The movie earned a staggering Rs 191 crore on day one according to the box-office tracking portal Sacnilk.com.
