Netflix’s latest Korean series Cashero flips the superhero genre on its head with a question most caped crusaders never face: what if saving the day costs you real money every single time? Led by Lee Jun-ho in his much-awaited full return to K-dramas after nearly two years, the show blends action, comedy, and everyday anxieties into a story that feels oddly relatable. With all eight episodes released at once, Cashero invites viewers to binge a world where heroism comes with a very literal price tag.

At the centre of the series is Kang Sang-ung, played by Lee Jun-ho, an ordinary civil worker. Sang-ung’s biggest dream is not glory or power, but something far more grounded — owning a home. His quiet life takes a dramatic turn when he suddenly discovers he has superpowers. The twist is brutal and hilarious at the same time: his strength rises and falls based entirely on how much cash he has on him.

As Sang-ung struggles to adjust, his long-time girlfriend Kim Min-suk, portrayed by Kim Hye-jun, becomes an essential part of his new reality. A sharp-minded math expert, Min-suk, approaches heroism like a financial problem, calculating how much each act of bravery costs them. Together, they try to balance moral responsibility with survival, turning crime-fighting into a constant budgeting exercise.

Sang-ung soon learns that he is not alone. He is approached by lawyer Byeon Ho-in, played by Kim Byong-chul, who leads the Korean Coalition of Superheroes. Ho-in’s own powers activate only when he drinks, adding another quirky layer to the show’s unconventional take on superhuman abilities. Ho-in recruits Sang-ung to help battle a shadowy group known as the Criminal Association, which actively hunts down people with powers.

Cashero is directed by Lee Chang-min and written by Lee Jane and Jeon Chan-ho. The series is adapted from the popular Kakao Webtoon of the same name, created by team befar. Netflix released all eight episodes simultaneously, allowing viewers to experience the full arc without weekly waits. With subtitles available, the show is easily accessible to audiences worldwide.
