For curious wanderers, this place is called Lotus Valley. But do not be fooled by the name. Even though named after the national flower of India, they are actually water lilies- hundreds of them- floating in the water and turning the entire water body pink. Dubbed the largest lotus valley in Asia, the area is encircled by lush green forests.

In his post, Anand Mahindra wrote that while Indore carries the reputation of being the ‘cleanest city’, the Lotus Valley, located near Gulawat village at Hatod tehsil, is simply a ‘magical’ destination. Travellers can feel gleeful witnessing an expanse of pink blooms floating on the water.


In conclusion, Anand Mahindra said, ‘Whatever the botanists decide to call them, I know what I would call this place. Stunning.’ The industrialist even admitted being completely unaware that such an extraordinary corner actually exists in the country.

By Air: Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport, around 25–30 km from Gulawat Valley, is the nearest. From the airport, visitors can hire a cab or take a local taxi to reach Lotus Valley.

By Rail: Indore Junction is the closest major railway station, located around 30 km away. From here, visitors can take a cab or taxi to Gulawat Valley.

By Road: Gulawat Valley, about 25 km from Indore, can be reached by car or taxi via the Indore–Khandwa Road. The drive takes approximately 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic.
