Jon Bon Jovi didn't just serve free meals: His foundation helped build 1,000 affordable and supportive housing units across 12 states in America

Jon Bon Jovi is one of the most evergreen rock icons of all time. The founder and frontman of the rock band Bon Jovi, he is considered one of the greatest rockers of all time. His band has sold more than 149 million records globally, making it one of the best-selling American rock bands. However, the rock icon has not just left a legacy in music; he has also proven to be unparalleled when it comes to charity and philanthropy. The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation has provided support for thousands of people, including youths and veterans, in more than 12 states. The foundation has supported the development of nearly 1,000 affordable and supportive housing units. Its charitable missions also provide warm, nutritious meals through no less than three JBJ Soul Kitchens now operating in New Jersey and serving the needy.

As per the information shared on the website, the JBJ Soul Foundation was established in 2006, and the main purpose of the charity was to break the cycle of hunger and homelessness. The Foundation started it’s noble work with the help of the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Team. The foundation later expanded to other areas. JBJ Soul Kitchen aims to tackle food insecurity by serving nutritious, locally sourced meals in a welcoming restaurant environment for both customers who can pay and those who are struggling financially. The initiative also empowers people by offering access to useful resources and opportunities to volunteer. Paying diners are encouraged to help others through a pay-it-forward model, covering meals for customers in need. The organisation is committed to treating everyone with dignity and respect while bringing communities together and building meaningful, lasting connections through food.

According to an Independent report, most of the meals are priced affordably at $12.


The rocker and his wife, Dorothea Bongiovi, made JBJ Soul Kitchen, a pay-it-forward model that had served no less than 234,000 delicious, healthy meals across New Jersey.

Jon Bon Jovi was honoured with the Impact Award by the James Beard Foundation in April this year for his charity work
