Depp Transformed An Abandoned Village
According to Homes & Gardens, the village was abandoned and in bad shape when Johnny bought it in 2001. Although he purchased it as a wreck, he spent about $10 million renovating the mostly early 19th-century structures made of the local honey stone during his 14-year relationship with French pop star Vanessa Paradis. Alexander Kraft, chairman and CEO of Sotheby's International Realty France, told the Daily Mail that the chateau was in poor condition. It has a number of buildings that are more than 200 years old.Stylish timber beams, terracotta roofing, and tiles round off the renovated town square in the traditional French style.
