They announced this week it will produce hand sanitizer to help stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The company is expeditiously moving forward to manufacture more than 20,000 units of an 80% alcohol spray formula, which will be donated to high-need groups who are facing shortages, such as Southern California first responders, Los Angeles police officers, and low-income families with young children.
“As a family owned company with a strong focus on philanthropy we knew we had to help any way we could” said Michealine DeJonia, Vice Chairman of John Paul Mitchell Systems. “The health and safety of our community is our first priority, especially those on the frontlines working to keep us all safe. We saw this as an opportunity to utilize our resources to help fill a crucial need during a time of crisis”
The sanitizers will be manufactured in conjunction with JMPS' longtime partner Bocchi Labs. Production is anticipated to begin in early April and ready for donation in the following weeks. 16,000 bottles of hand sanitizers will be donated to first responders in Southern California, including those assisting with the city’s homeless shelters.
2,000 bottles of hand sanitizers as well as personal care products like shampoo, conditioners and styling products were donated to Los Angeles Police Department officers. 2,000 bottles of Hand Sanitizer as well as personal care products were donated to Baby2Baby, a non-profit organization that helps provide basic essentials to children living in poverty.
In just 2 weeks, JPMS has distributed over 2.5 million essential items to some of the most vulnerable families across the country impacted by Covid-19. The USA has seen a sharp rise in the number of those affected in the country.

Shah Rukh Khan is the latest celebrity to come forward to donate and do his bit in the fight against coronavirus.
The actor's various companies - Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX - have pledged to provide support in these testing times. SRK along with wife Gauri and business partners Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta will be contributing to the PM-CARES Fund through their IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Shah Rukh and Gauri will also make a donation to the Maharashtra CM's Relief Fund through their film banner Red Chillies Entertainment.
Additionally, KKR and Khan's NGO, Meer Foundation, will supply 50,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Maharashtra and West Bengal governments for healthcare professionals.
Meer Foundation has also tied up with Ek Saath - The Earth organization to provide food to over 5500 families for a month in Mumbai. The 'Swades' star added that a kitchen will be set up to send out 2000 freshly cooked meals everyday to help households and hospitals.
Meer Foundation will also provide 3 lakh meal kits to 10,000 to underprivileged people and daily wage labourers daily in Mumbai, in association with the Roti Foundation.
In addition to this, SRK's Foundation will also work with Working People's Charter to provide essentials to over 2500 daily wage workers in Delhi for a month.
The Badshah of Bollywood also added that the Meer Foundation will provide support to 100 acid attack victims in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Uttarakhand.
