The six-episode series is set to premiere on April 24, 2026, on ZEE5. The fantasy thriller will be available for streaming across the platform, marking its digital debut next week.Set in the town of Rayadurga, Jerax follows the life of Prakasha, played by Nagabhushana, a modest xerox shop employee who largely goes unnoticed in his everyday life. He quietly hopes for recognition, but his routine existence takes an unexpected turn when a strange trinket merges with his old copying machine.
What begins as a bizarre incident soon spirals into chaos, as the machine starts producing copies that are no longer lifeless duplicates. Instead, they walk, talk, and even retain memories, blurring the line between reality and imagination.
More about the series Jerax
Speaking about the idea behind the series, Dhananjaya shared that while the concept may appear eccentric on the surface, it carries a strong emotional core. He explained, "What fascinated me about Jerax from the beginning was how the story hides a philosophical punch behind a seemingly bizarre idea. A xerox machine that prints humans sounds outrageous, but the emotional truth beneath it is painfully real, what happens when people refuse to face their own shadows? The series explores loneliness, power, guilt, and the kind of moral collapse that can begin in silence."Director Srinidhi Bengaluru, who previously helmed Blink, also shed light on the inspiration behind Jerax. He said the story emerged from a simple but unsettling thought, what if the version of yourself that you try to hide suddenly appears before you? Rather than portraying the duplicates as villains, he described them as mirrors of the characters’ suppressed truths.
Through the setting, relationships, and unfolding chaos, the series examines how identity can fracture and evolve under pressure. Srinidhi added that he wanted the fantasy element to feel invasive rather than escapist.
The show features a strong ensemble cast, including Payal Chengappa, Manju Pavagada, Om Prakash Rao, Srivatsa, Yashwanth Shetty, Vijaya Prasad, Thukali Santhu, Jagappa, Siddu Mandya, and Sudhakar Gowda, among others.
Meanwhile, Srinidhi is also working on his next project, Video, a found-footage thriller. Stay tuned for more details.
