A full-throated and confident Jennifer Lopez wowed everyone with her performance at Wednesday's inauguration ceremony of US President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris.

Soon after Lady Gaga's emotional rendition of the national anthem, the 51-year-old singer belted out 'This Land Is Your Land' by Woody Guthrie. A minute-and-a-half into the famous folk song, Lopez switched to 'America the Beautiful' before crooning the words from her upper hit song 'Let's Get Loud', which was quite the surprise for many in attendance - in person and virtually.

JLo then plunged into the ending of 'This Land is Your Land' to conclude her performance, while the audience made their way to social media to express their confusion (if paraphrased into words, it reads: "Wait, what just happened?!").

The pop star has been singing the groovy track from her 1999 debut studio album 'On the 6' for ages now. But people weren't expecting to hear the original by JLo herself at the oath-taking ceremony of the new president and VC of the United States. While the Internet was full of praise for the multi-talented star, many did not appreciate Lopez sneaking in her own dance hit number during a performance that was a mashup of patriotic songs.

The upbeat dance song has been known to compel people, even the wallflowers, to hit the floor and shake a leg, and hearing the lines to that track at the inaugural performance invited a lot of criticism on Twitter. "Jennifer just had to throw in one LETS GET LOUD in the middle of that melody," wrote a user.

With a gif, another user said that this was not the right moment for Lopez to throw her hit song.

Their reception party had an ‘East meets West’ theme and featured performances from Indian classical dancers and hip-hop star P. Diddy.

After more than a year of marriage, the couple decided to call it quits in December 2011, when Russell filed for a divorce.
