Karan Johar returned with the 9th and final season of Koffee With Karan. The celebrity-based talk show premiered on JioHotstar on October 14. The latest celebrities to grace the sets were Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda. Over the years, the coffee couch has been a seat of revelations where Bollywood stars spill their secrets and share personal anecdotes. Back in 2020, Abhishek Bachchan appeared on the show alongside his sister Shweta, where they talked about some never-heard-before quirks of the Bachchan family.

Jaya, Amitabh and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s WhatsApp habits

When Karan Johar asked Abhishek about the family’s WhatsApp habits, the Ludo actor shared that Jaya Bachchan is the most active member on their family WhatsApp group. He added that the actress-politician sends emotional and sentimental videos in the group every day.

Abhishek and Shweta added that Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, is the least active member. In fact, Big B needs to be notified by SMS that he has been sent a WhatsApp message. That’s when he checks the group and reads the message sent there.


Abhishek added that his wife, actress Aishwarya, is also fairly inactive on the WhatsApp group, taking forever to call or text, much like Amitabh Bachchan. Abhishek, however, noted that his Amitabh is a frequent X user, which is evident from his blog entries.

Abhishek recalls a funny incident

Recalling an incident, Abhishek revealed that once Jaya texted Amitabh on WhatsApp that she had landed and was returning home, but out of habit, the Bollywood megastar did not check the message.

Hours after Jaya reached home, Amitabh noticed the text and replied, ‘have a safe flight’, making up for a funny moment. Abhishek disclosed that the Bachchan family follows the rule of texting each other when they board or land during flights.

A few days ago, Amitabh Bachchan took to X, sharing an update. The Brahmastra star wrote that he was taking a break from social media after being advised to rest and recover. He did not disclose the reason behind the hiatus.
