Japanese people are extremely fond of Indian food: Chef Masaharu Morimoto
Credited with introducing India to the flavours and intricacy of contemporary Japanese cuisine, Masaharu Morimoto was recently in the country again. The Iron Chef, who counts numerous tennis stars amongst his fans, including Roger Federer and Serena Williams, has travelled all over the world. However, it is his home country, Japan, that he loves the most when it comes to travelling for food. He tells ETPanache, “While I like to visit and try out new things everywhere I go, if I had to pick just one place, it would have to be Japan.”

The chef, who opened his first restaurant in India 10 years ago, says that India holds a special place in his heart and that many would be surprised to know that Indian food is popular in Japan. Morimoto adds, “Japanese people are extremely fond of Indian food, especially the Indian curries. I too am fond of Indian food.”

However, there’s one thing to keep in mind if you’re going to be serving Morimoto a curry. “It should not be too spicy,” he says.
