Janaki V v/s State of Kerala released on OTT: When and where to watch Suresh Gopi, Anupama Parameswaran film's Telugu version

After much anticipation and a couple of unexpected delays, the Telugu version of JSK – Janaki V vs State of Kerala is now available for streaming on ZEE5. The legal drama, which has generated significant buzz since its theatrical release, finally made its digital debut, allowing Telugu-speaking audiences to experience its intense and thought-provoking narrative. While the film didn’t make a major mark at the box office, its OTT release has reignited public interest.

Originally scheduled for release in Telugu on August 15, 2025, the film faced multiple postponements, with August 22 being the next announced date. However, both timelines were missed due to unforeseen issues. ZEE5 has now made the film available.

Directed and written by Pravin Narayanan, JSK stars Anupama Parameswaran in a powerful lead role, portraying Janaki, a young woman who survives a traumatic sexual assault. Her pursuit of justice becomes even more complicated when her father mysteriously dies during a political protest. The film unravels the complexities survivors face within the legal system and brings attention to the systemic challenges that hinder their fight for justice.


One of the more controversial aspects of the film was its original title, Janaki v. State of Kerala. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) raised concerns over the use of the name "Janaki," also associated with the Hindu goddess Sita. The filmmakers were asked to change the title to Janaki V vs State of Kerala, and additionally, to mute the word "Janaki" in one of the courtroom scenes to secure certification.

Suresh Gopi, who plays advocate David Abel Donovan, described the role as a deeply grounding experience. The cast also includes Shruthi Ramachandran, Divya Pillai, Madhav Suresh, Baiju Santhosh, and Aksar Ali in key roles.

The film is produced by J Phanindra Kumar under the Cosmos Entertainments banner, with Sethuraman Nair Kankol as co-producer. The music, composed by Ghibran and Gireesh Narayanan. As the film begins streaming, it remains to be seen how Telugu audiences will respond to this compelling legal drama with strong social commentary.
