The makers of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay's final film as an actor announced Jana Nayagan's release date for the second time on July 15, and this time, the release stayed on track. After months of anticipation and facing several hurdles on the way, the film finally arrived in theatres on July 23, 2026. Fans thronged cinema halls for the first-day-first-show, and the early verdict is now out, with social media flooded with reactions praising Vijay's farewell performance.

Fans call it a 'mass blockbuster'

Soon after the morning shows began, X (formerly Twitter) was filled with posts from fans describing Jana Nayagan as a complete commercial entertainer. Several viewers called it a "massy blockbuster" packed with whistle-worthy moments, high-energy action and emotional highs.




Many users praised director H Vinoth for giving a fresh treatment to a story that is partly inspired by the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari. While some pointed out similarities with the original, they felt Vinoth had reshaped the narrative to suit Vijay's larger-than-life screen presence.
