Months after its planned theatrical release was postponed, fresh reports suggest that Jana Nayagan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay's much-awaited film, could finally hit cinemas later this month. While the makers have not officially confirmed a release date, developments surrounding the film's certification and overseas distribution have started excitement among fans. Amid this, a new report claims Vijay has also instructed his team to ensure there is no controversy over ticket pricing when the film finally releases.

Jana Nayagan release date details

The latest speculation began after Canada-based distributor York Cinemas shared a post on X announcing that Jana Nayagan would arrive in Canadian theatres on July 24. The post described the film as a grand theatrical celebration and asked fans to stay tuned for ticket bookings.


Although KVN Productions has not made any official announcement, the post quickly went viral and led many fans to believe that the long-delayed film is finally nearing its release.



Reports also suggest that overseas distributors have been asked to prepare for a July 24 release. However, some reports indicate that the makers are also considering July 23 as an alternative, depending on their final release strategy. As of now, neither date has been officially confirmed.

CBFC process reportedly reaches final stage

According to recent reports by India Today, the makers have completed all the modifications suggested by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is now reportedly awaiting its censor certificate, which could be issued soon.

If that happens, the producers are expected to announce the official release date shortly afterwards.

The certification process has been one of the biggest hurdles for the film. Jana Nayagan was originally scheduled to release on January 9, 2026, but its release was delayed after it became caught in a lengthy certification dispute.

Reports stated that after the film was submitted to the CBFC, the examining committee sought certain modifications. Even after the revised version was submitted, the process reportedly stalled when a committee member raised concerns that some scenes could hurt public sentiments.

The prolonged delay eventually led KVN Productions to approach the Madras High Court. However, after weeks without a resolution, the producers reportedly withdrew the petition and agreed to send the film to the revising committee once again.

Report claims Vijay wants fair ticket pricing

Apart from the release date speculation, another report has attracted attention. According to Gulte, Vijay has instructed his team to ensure that Jana Nayagan's release remains free from controversies surrounding ticket prices. The report claims the actor believes that even minor disputes over pricing could overshadow the film and attract unnecessary public attention.

It further states that theatres could be closely monitored during the release to ensure they do not charge more than the approved ticket rates. If any theatre is found violating the pricing rules, authorities may reportedly take strict action, including the possible cancellation of licences.

The reported move comes in view of Vijay's huge fan following, which often leads to major demand for tickets. Previous releases have occasionally seen allegations of black marketing and inflated ticket prices in certain locations. According to the report, the team wants to avoid similar controversies this time and ensure a smooth theatrical release.
