The H Vinoth directorial has been closely watched by fans not only because of its political storyline but also because it is widely expected to be Vijay’s final film before he focuses fully on his political career.

According to reports from Telugu123 and Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan is likely to make its OTT debut on ZEE5 on August 21. If the reported date is correct, the film will reach streaming audiences less than a month after its theatrical release. Neither the makers of Jana Nayagan nor ZEE5 have made a formal announcement confirming when the film will arrive on the platform.

The movie was earlier expected to have its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video, with reports suggesting that the platform had secured its OTT rights. However, the deal reportedly ran into trouble after delays to the theatrical release and certification process. The reports indicate that negotiations eventually led to ZEE5 acquiring the streaming rights.

The film is reportedly expected to be available on OTT in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada when it begins streaming. The Hindi dubbed version, according to the reports, is expected to be added later.

Jana Nayagan released in cinemas on July 23, 2026, in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and other languages. According to Sacnilk data cited in the reports, the film earned around Rs 42.70 crore on its opening day in India.

After 14 days, its India net collection was reported at around Rs 183-184 crore, while its worldwide gross had crossed Rs 308 crore. Tamil Nadu remained its biggest domestic market, followed by Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh-Telangana.

Despite these numbers, the film did not maintain the exceptional box office pace associated with some of Vijay’s earlier releases. Its theatrical journey was also affected by reports of an online leak before release.
